It's a quiet birthday this year, especially after the birth of Cayla on 9 Sep and Natalie's birthday on 16 Sep. And what with moving to our new place, we have been very busy. Sep is one of those months where there are many birthdays in our families. We usually just get a cake to celebrate at home on the weekends, not on the actual day for me. We did get a cake to celebrate Natalie's birthday at her school though....(see photos here)
There comes a time when I no longer celebrate my birthdays anymore, as there are so many other important things going on in our lives. Ever since we have kids, we hardly have time to go out on our own, as we don't want to trouble anyone to look after the girls. We would rather everyone go out and enjoy themselves, than leave someone at home to look after the kids.
This year, my sis and bro-in-law got me a birthday present. It's a Brunton portable charger. There were many times my phone was left without any charge, even in Singapore where home or office are just a short distance away. This will be useful to recharge my phones and devices outside. Thanks!
When I sent Natalie to her class today, I spent some time in the chapel praying in front of the Eucharist, thanking God for everything happening in our life now. It was quiet in the chapel, and I felt a sense of peace and calm. It's great to have a place to sit and reflect, pray and speak to God, away from all the "noise". Jesus needed time during his ministry to pray, so must we.
Its been a year since we return from my studies and stay in the UK, and so much has happened. On reflection, it is like everything happened so smoothly and "timely". We managed to sell our flat, got a new one near my in-laws, settled the renovation, moved in time, gave birth, settled in. I wondered what's gonna happen next year, but I trust that God has great things planned for us. No matter what happens, we pray that we can grow closer to Him, know Him more and serve Him more each day.
