Time passes so quickly. Its 5 weeks since we moved into Hazel Farm. Its been nice and wonderful stay here so far. We busy ourselves with the household chores, playing with the kids, studying and walks around Guildford.
We were invited to a celebration by our Malaysian neighbour for their 3 yr old daughter Michelle-el's birthday about 2 weeks ago. You can't imagine the number of people who turned up. The whole house was full with people and every family have children. All the children played everywhere and its so lively. The food is heavenly. Our neighbour, Nor, who is a PhD student in hospitality, cooked all the food, and its fantastic to have malay food here in the UK. reminds us so much of home.
Georgia is now cooking fabulous food, mostly chinese, for our meals, which include pork rib, potatoe & carrot soup; yogurt chicken, grilled chicken, stir-fry vegetable; oven-baked chicken;
etc. She can handle all the meals and refused to let me do any cooking, so I help out by vacuuming and moping the floor.
February is supposed to be winter, but the weather is fantastic. Its not cold, and the sun is shining bright most days. We bring Natalie to the playground, which has a pond nearby, where a pair of swans nested. We also went to the TV room to play table tennis and watch Natalie's favourite shows, which includes the night garden and the story maker. I don't understand why children liked that show though. There isn't much of a storyline and hardly any singing or dancing. Just weird characters walking about and doing nothing much. Still its quite funny to watch the show.
We also go into Guildford quite often, and spent one or two days a week in town shopping and sightseeing. Its liberating to just walk in the streets, not having a care, going into shops when we liked, buying baby stuff/food at Boots, salmon in Sainsbury, etc. We usually have Subway special, which cost GBP 1.99, and Greg's Chicken pies (which everyone loves, including Natalie - she can finish one by herself)
We attend St Joseph's church in Guildford every Sunday, and the church is huge and packed, not unlike in Singapore, which is amazing. The choir is quite good, and everyone is so friendly.
We also joined the library, and have been reading lots of books. Georgia usually finished 4 books a week, on top of cooking and taking care of the kids. We are trying to get our hands on all the books by Jodi Picolt and Janet Evanovich. The library is amazing, with 4 stories of books and videos. They even encourage young children with a special reading programme. We can each borrow 9 books for 3 weeks, and there is a huge selection.
Term break is up next week, and we have a 4 week easter break, which I will use to do my revision and assignments. Its been hectic, and I am quite overwhelmed with all the studying I am supposed to do. I am still working on that project, and pray that my project will turn out well.
