Happy Lunar New Year (7 Feb 08)

Wishing all a prosperous Lunar New Year!

Its amazing. This is the first time we are overseas during chinese new year, so we only have ourselves to celebrate it with. At least, we have each other and the kids, so I don't feel lonely. In the UK, the CNY is hardly celebrated, unless you are in Chinatown with the larger chinese community. Its not a holiday here, so we still have to work and all. People who stay here long do tend not to celebrate it anymore, as it seems pointless. The best thing in CNY is to celebrate another year of growing up, spending time with family and friends, and look forward to another year of growth and happiness. It looks like a quiet CNY for us, as most of our families and friends are back in Singapore.

Its funny how the CNY coincides with Lent. In fact, Ash Wednesday is the same day as CNY eve! Lent is the period of quiet and solemn preparation for the death and resurrection of Christ, and mind you, we do have a quiet and solemn time here...;) puts things in perspective, doen't it? This coincidence of days happens when we are overseas. Lent always seemed to go by in a flash for me in the past, and its an important part of my spiritual growth.

We have just recently got our place at university accommodations, and I had posted some of the photos and comments in the photo page. Do visit and enjoy.
