God's narrow minded people

2 Kings 19:9-11, 14-21, 31-35, 36
Psalm 48
Matthew 7:6, 12-14

I get my daily readings from the main webpage of the Catholic Church in Singapore here: http://www.veritas.org.sg/reflect.php

In Mathew's reading today, Jesus reminds us to treat sacred things with respect, and do onto others what you expect to be treated, and that the path of God's way is narrow and tough.

Do onto others as you would have do onto you...sound advice, which sometimes might not get you what you want, but would you expect others to treat you badly? In the same way, therefore, we treat others accordingly, not so much that we expect to be rewarded, but that seems the decent things to do. Sometimes we are more critical of others than we are of ourselves, the so called double standards. Most people don't admit it, but we have got double standards, on for ourselves, and one for others. As for me, I set a tougher standards for myself than I do for others.

God's way of life is not easy. Jesus does not promise us an easy life. He promises us a life of love, joy and peace in Him. It is tough to be a christian in this world, cause the world is against Jesus and His teaching on Love. How much more they hate us and suspect us when we do God's view. The world judge us according to their standards and suspicion, for they shy away from the light and truth. The way is tough and it is so easy to fall off the narrow path. Jesus knows it and advised us. He also instituted the many sacraments to strengthens us on the path. The sacrament of baptism, confirmation, holy communion, reconciliation, matrimony, holy orders and annointing of the sick are the seven sacraments which Jesus insituted to aid us. Most importantly, the Holy Spirit is sent to aid us on our journey, to be our guide and conscience.
