Compassion

2 Kings 25:1-12
Psalm 137
Matthew 8:1-4

In Mat *:3 "He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, ‘I do choose. Be made clean!’ ...."

Jesus was asked by the leper if he would choose to heal the leper. Jesus was full of compassion and choose to heal the leper.

What is compassion? It seems to be quite hard to define. To me, it is just simply putting yourself in other people's shoes and understanding their situation. It is not pity or envy. It is empathy. It means reaching out to touch the other person. There may not be much we can do for the other person, except perhaps to just be with them and pray.

Jesus' words of "I do choose" really touch me. He do choose to heal us in our need. He made the decision to save us, to heal us, to be with us, to carry us in our need when we cannot walk further. Praise the Lord!
