Accident's and God's blessings (19 Jul - 25 Jul 07)

What a week!

I was driving home from work and about the go and get dinner from our usual vegetable rice stall. When I was driving on Yishun Ring Road, I had this terrible notion that nothing should happen, or everything will go round. Well it did. I was approaching the junction to turn to Yishun St 72 (a small road), when i saw 2 vehicles approaching the junction on the opposite side and turning right. Having stopped, and saw that there were no vehicles on the road, I turned slowly, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw the Hyundai approaching on the opposite innermost lane and banged straight into my left front wheel. I couldn't stop at all, and my airbags exploded in my face. it was shocking! The other car couldn't stop or sevred at all, as it was travelling quite fast.

Unfortunately, the other car has got 4 other passenger, the wife and 3 girls. One of the girls got nosebleeding and the other other have got pains in the stomach. The mother has got some back pain as she was carrying the youngest child. After a short while, we all got out of the car. I was quite dazed, but I caled the ambulance and the police. I also called Alvin, and he helped to call NTUC for the tow truck.

As I was alone, everyone focused on the wife and children, who also seemed quite shocked that the accident happened. The ambulance came and took the mother and children to the hospital, while the driver and myself stayed back to wait for the police. After the police did the investigation, I was given a summons to meet with the Investigation officer the next day. We waited for more than an hour before the tow truck came.

It was with great comfort that Alvin & Monica came over to look for me. I was feeling very alone and helpless. We cleared the stuff from the car and then we followed the tow truck back to IDAC Yishun. Alvin had also left Godma, Alphonsus & Mary Anne at my place to be with Georgia and the kids.

The next day, I had to go down to traffic police to lodged the report and meet with the IO on the case. I could have been charged in court for inconsiderate driving, but now, I think they will have have me pay a fine instead. I also had to go back to IDAC to lodge my claims with Income and saw a doctor in the afternoon for my slight injuries.

We were supposed to go to Malaysia for a short holiday with my inlaws, but we had to cancel the trip due to the accident. We managed to get back our money for the hotels as WOTIF was very helpful. Wotif is really a great site to help if anyone wants to book their holidays. go to www.wotif.com. We had used it many times and is very pleased with the service.

We spent the next 4 days clearing up our house and buying stuff. Thank God that no one was really hurt and it seems like we were not meant to go to Malaysia after all. We had so much things to do to prepare for our UK trip. Everythign went out well, as the car is scrapped and we got back the balanced for my car park from HDB too.

I certainly pray that the other driver and his family is ok, although they had mostly minor injuries, but the children still got hurt. Hope everyone learn their lessons and drive more carefully on the minor roads, even when you have the right of way.

God really works in amazing ways.
